Community Corrections Release Meaning
Northwestern Regional Community Corrections administers programs that include work release and advance commitment. These arrangements can change where a person stays and when approved movement occurs, but they do not by themselves end the sentence. Work release remains a form of confinement and control. A participant may travel for approved purposes under program rules while still owing time under the court's judgment.
That status differs from final release. Completion occurs when the responsible regional authority records the end of confinement and the court's sentence permits it. The next status may be unrestricted community presence, probation, another form of supervision, or transfer under a separate order or hold. The regional transaction should document the physical custody change. The sentencing order explains the legal term, active time, suspended time, and any probation that follows.
Placement in work release is continued sentence service, not discharge; use the final regional record and court order to verify completion.
Community Corrections Intake Path
Official advance-commitment and work-release materials show that participants first report to the main Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center. Staff complete booking, medical screening, classification, and testing before Community Corrections placement. This sequence creates more than one meaningful date. The main-jail booking date records entry, while the later placement date marks movement into the program.
Neither date should be relabeled as a final release date. Booking establishes custody. Screening and classification determine whether and how the arrangement proceeds. Testing is part of program processing. Movement from the main jail to the Community Corrections address is an internal change in confinement arrangement, even though it may look less restrictive than placement in a secure unit.
The record request should therefore cover both locations and the full date span. Ask for the initial booking or commitment entry, program placement or transfer entry, and eventual release transaction. This prevents a partial file from making the program move appear to be sentence completion.
Confirm Community Corrections Release
There is no researched public locator dedicated only to the Community Corrections Division. The regional jail's inmate-finder entry point is current-oriented and does not promise a historical release archive. A missing result cannot settle whether a participant completed the sentence, changed placement, transferred, or dropped from a current display.
Use the following sequence to confirm the status without confusing program placement with discharge:
- Collect the full name, case number, commitment date, and regional inmate or booking number when known.
- Check the NRADC current inmate locator and record exactly what it returns.
- Contact the regional jail to identify the records custodian for Community Corrections and the related main-jail booking.
- Review the sentencing court docket and obtain the signed order when the sentence terms matter.
- Request existing placement, transfer, and final release entries from the Northwestern Regional Jail Authority.
- Check VADOC or another custodian only when the case record or regional transaction supports a transfer.
The broader Fauquier County release-record search shows how the regional record fits with county, state, court, and notification channels. No single roster absence replaces those checks.
Community Corrections Records Contact
The Community Corrections Division has a separate street address, while the initial booking and the regional records route remain tied to NRADC. No division-specific public phone number or office hours were established in the research. Use the regional main contact to ask for the correct custodian rather than guessing an unverified line or schedule.

Community Corrections Record Chain
A complete request follows the person from commitment through final disposition. Narrow wording helps the authority identify the existing records and lets it separate disclosable administrative entries from protected content. Include the full name, useful identifiers, court case, approximate dates, and the exact records sought.
| Record | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Main-jail booking entry | When regional control began for the commitment |
| Medical screening and classification status | Whether required intake steps preceded placement, subject to lawful redaction |
| Community Corrections placement entry | When the confinement arrangement changed |
| Program or work-release status | Whether the person remained under program control |
| Final release transaction | The recorded date, time, and type ending regional control |
| Transfer or receiving-agency entry | Whether another custodian took control instead |
Medical details and other protected information may be withheld. Request segregable nonexempt portions rather than the entire internal file when the goal is status verification. Virginia FOIA does not force an agency to write a new explanation, calculate a conclusion, or compile a list it does not keep.
Court Proof of Final Release
The sentencing court supplies the legal framework for work release or advance commitment. Read the whole order. Important terms can include the imposed sentence, active time, suspended portion, time already counted, concurrent or consecutive service, program authority, and probation. A docket summary is useful, but the signed order provides the stronger statement of what the judge required.
The court order and regional record do not duplicate each other. The order sets legal authority. NRADC records admission, placement, movement, and the final physical custody transaction. A scheduled end date can change because of another court order, a warrant, a detainer, program action, or sentence calculation. For that reason, projected completion should not be described as accomplished release.
- Work release
- A controlled sentence arrangement allowing approved outside activity while custody continues.
- Advance commitment
- A process in which a sentenced participant reports for regional booking before planned placement.
- Suspended time
- A part of a sentence not served in confinement unless the court later activates it.
- Probation
- Court-ordered supervision in the community, often beginning after active confinement ends.
Community Corrections Release Evidence
Status evidence has different weight. Seeing a participant outside the facility can be consistent with approved work release and says nothing about discharge. A roster disappearance is also weak because the locator is current-oriented and may not reflect the full regional record. A VINE alert is an event notice, not the release file.
Use the evidence in a practical order. The best confirmation pairs the regional release or transfer transaction with the court order. A database result with a clear actual status can support that pair. Direct custodian information comes next. Event notices and docket clues help identify what to request, but they should not be stretched beyond their wording.
This approach also protects against identity errors. A full name alone may match more than one person. Compare the booking number, court case, dates, and other lawful identifiers. If the available systems do not return the person, refine the request instead of treating the gap as proof of release.
Community Corrections Release Detainers
A final regional release can be redirected by another lawful hold. A local or state warrant may send the person to a different jail or authority. An immigration detainer asks the custodian for notice and up to 48 hours for ICE to assume control after the person would otherwise be released. If pickup occurs, the person leaves regional custody but does not enter the community.
No Fauquier ICE detention-services contract was verified. Community Corrections is not an ICE facility merely because an individual case could involve a detainer. When the records identify an immigration handoff, check the ICE Online Detainee Locator. The detainer alone does not prove that ICE took custody, so obtain the regional transfer entry too.
State transfer requires the same care. If the Virginia Department of Corrections locator begins returning the person, regional custody ended through transfer rather than discharge from confinement. A community-supervision result can show physical release from prison while legal supervision continues. Each milestone must be named for what it is.
Fauquier's Regional Release Path
Fauquier County participates in the Northwestern Regional Jail Authority, which also serves Clarke and Frederick Counties and the City of Winchester. The regional arrangement matters because the holding facility, program site, sentencing court, and post-release supervisor may not all be in the same place. A Fauquier court case can therefore produce records maintained in Winchester.
A person may begin at the Fauquier Adult Detention Center, move to the main NRADC facility, and later enter Community Corrections. None of those moves alone proves final release. The NRADC release-record page covers the regional jail's current locator and main-facility record path. The Community Corrections file adds the program placement and completion layer.
No official Community Corrections release feed, routine release hour, family waiting point, public exit door, weekend rule, mobile release app, or public photo archive was verified. Ask the regional authority about the specific record or logistics rather than applying practices from another facility.
