A person can leave the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Adult Detention Center through several paths. Bond and a court-ordered release can place a defendant outside jail while the case continues. Time served or sentence completion can end the active confinement term, though probation may follow. Home or electronic incarceration changes the setting while legal control continues. A transfer to Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center, VADOC, another jail, or a detainer recipient ends Fauquier ADC custody without ending confinement.
The next destination is as important as the exit date. Fauquier states that it may transfer people to NRADC because of overcrowding, medical concerns, or security needs. Check the regional jail whenever someone stops appearing at the Warrenton facility. A felony commitment can instead move the person into Virginia corrections. Another warrant or detainer can produce a handoff at the point when an ordinary local release would occur.

Virginia Jail VINE can add an event notice for participating local custody. Read its wording carefully. A release or transfer notice may mark a move into VADOC rather than return to the community. Important: A roster disappearance, failed phone match, or automated notice cannot by itself distinguish community release from transfer.

Bond Releases at Fauquier ADC
Fauquier publishes 24-hour bonding. Cash may be posted through the magistrate or court. Property bond instructions come from the magistrate. Private bondsmen are allowed, but Sheriff's Office staff cannot recommend one. Meeting the bond condition does not establish the final gate time. Staff still must process the legal paperwork and check other holds or orders.
A person released on bond remains a defendant in a pending case. Fauquier Adult Court Services may investigate or supervise some pretrial releases, so leaving a cell can begin a new form of court control. The bond order states the legal terms. The ADC transaction states when local custody ended. Both records are needed when the precise status matters.
No official source gives a routine release hour, public exit, family waiting area, or weekend and holiday rule for the facility. Call the ADC for instructions tied to the specific event. Do not rely on another county's customs.
Fauquier ADC Detainer Releases
A detainer can redirect a planned release. An ICE detainer asks the local jail for notice and an opportunity for immigration officers to take custody. It can request a hold of up to 48 hours beyond the point when the person would otherwise leave. The request does not prove that pickup occurred. Other warrants or custodians can create similar transfer questions.
No current contract making Fauquier ADC a dedicated ICE detention facility was verified. Do not describe it as one. If an individual record shows an immigration handoff, use the ICE locator while the record is current and obtain the ADC transfer entry. Loss of a later ICE result does not prove community presence because that locator is not a permanent release archive.

The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office operates the Adult Detention Center at 50 West Lee Street in Warrenton.
